Charles Leezy

Welcome! My name is Charles Leezy, and I am the pastor of Grace Fellowship Church. Thank you for taking the time to explore our website. Allow me to share a little about myself.

I’ll start by saying I believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and Life, and that there is NO OTHER WAY to the Father except through Jesus Christ our Lord (John 14:6). ALL non-Christian religions are incorrect and will only lead one astray from our Lord and Creator. I also hold to a literal 6-day creation. Only two good things to come out of the idea of evolution: decent Star Trek plots, and Darwin Awards.

I hold to the idea that as a church, we should be “Making Much of Jesus”! Everything we do should be focused on bringing honor and glory to God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

The Holy Bible is God's inspired and preserved Word. I primarily use the King James Bible for my teaching. There are numerous Bible translations to choose from: some are good, while others are not so good. For a variety of reasons, I believe the King James Bible has withstood the test of time. Regardless of which Bible translation you use, scripture tells us that anyone who is truly seeking God will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). In addition, scripture defines what is good and right in God’s eyes, and this cannot be changed by any desire or legislative action of man.

God has truly blessed me with the opportunity to serve at Grace Fellowship Church. I hold a degree from the University of Missouri in Sociology. I have also completed Evangelism studies through the “Way of the Master” School of Biblical Evangelism and earned my Theology degree from Gulf Coast Bible Institute (Fort Walton Beach, Florida) in 2008. Prior to coming to Grace Fellowship, I served at Countryside Baptist Church in Columbia, MO. My previous ministry work includes being actively involved in various ministry functions (Sunday School teacher, choir member, nursing home minister at South Hampton Nursing Home) and participating in mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, and the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana.

I have been married for nearly 40 years. God has blessed me with a wonderful spouse, Donna, who is the greatest “help mate” I could ever desire (Genesis 2:18), and I have been blessed (Psalm 127:3) with two children (now adults), Carson and Maggie.

I believe I am somewhat different from other pastors. First, my role is not to grow a church, but to lead others to Christ (Matthew 28:19). A church will naturally grow if your focus remains on Christ. Too often, churches become ambitious about building a congregation and, in the process, use and discard people along the way. I firmly believe that you build a church by building people.

Second, I know that nearly every church claims to be for building stronger families. Sadly, some churches start organizing more and more “events” and “activities” that end up taking time away from the family. I believe in keeping things simple. God established the family (Genesis 1:28 and Genesis 2:24). Church activities should encourage, not hinder, you from spending time with your family. Don’t get me wrong, church activities are essential. But too often, some churches plan so many events that it becomes impossible to spend quality time with your family. Church is where we worship God, study His Word, and fellowship with other believers, but it should never become a “social club”.

Finally, if I had to pick one Bible verse that sums me up, it would be Acts 17:11.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

(Act 17:11)

When I hear others teach and preach, I don’t just accept their words: I search the scriptures. There are many false teachings out there, and too many people own a Bible but never open it. I encourage everyone in the congregation to be like the Bereans (Acts 17): listen to all teachings and then test them against scripture.

I hope you found this helpful. Feel free to contact me with any questions. As a church, we welcome you to visit us! God Bless!
